Kol Adonai al ha-mayim, El ha-kavod hir'im, Adonai al mayim rabim.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord over many waters.

Glas Gospodov nad vodami, Bog slave grmi, Gospod nad mnogimi vodami.

Kol Adonai ba-koach, kol Adonai be-hadar.

The voice of the Lord in power, the voice of the Lord in majesty.

Glas Gospodov v moči, glas Gospodov v veličastvu.

Kol Adonai shover arazim, va-yeshaber Adonai et arzei ha-Levanon.

The voice of the Lord breaks cedars; the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.

Glas Gospodov lomi cedre, Gospod lomi libanonske cedre.

Kol Adonai yecholel ayalot va-yechesof ye'arot, u-ve-heichalo kulo omer kavod.

The voice of the Lord makes the hinds give birth and strips the forests bare; and in His temple all say: Glory!

Glas Gospodov dela, da košute storijo, in razgalja gozdove; v njegovem templju vse govori: Slava!

Adonai la-mabul yashav, va-yeshev Adonai melech le-olam.

The Lord sat enthroned at the Flood; the Lord sits as King for ever.

Come, my beloved, to greet the bride; let us welcome the presence of Shabbat.

Pridi, moj ljubljeni, naproti nevesti, sprejmimo obličje šabata.

“Keep” and “Remember” in a single utterance the One God made us hear; the Lord is One and His Name is One, for renown, for glory and for praise.

»Varuj« in »Spominjaj se« v eni sami besedi nam je dal slišati edini Bog; Gospod je eden in njegovo ime je eno, v slavo, v čast in v hvalo.

Lecha dodi…

Lecha dodi…

Hit'oreri, hit'oreri, ki va orech kumi ori, uri uri shir daberi, kevod Adonai alayich nigla.

Awake, awake, for your light has come; arise, shine! Wake up, wake up, utter a song; the glory of the Lord is revealed upon you.

Lecha dodi…

All rise and turn towards the entrance.Vsi vstanejo in se obrnejo proti vhodu.

Come in peace, crown of her husband, with joy and gladness, among the faithful of the treasured people. Come, O bride! Come, O bride, Shabbat Queen!

Pridi v miru, krona svojega moža, z veseljem in radostjo, med zveste izvoljenega ljudstva. Pridi, nevesta! Pridi, nevesta, kraljica šabat!

Mizmor shir le-yom ha-Shabbat.

A psalm, a song for the Shabbat day.

Psalm, pesem za šabatni dan.

Tov lehodot la-Adonai, u-lezamer le-shimcha Elyon.

It is good to give thanks to the Lord and to sing to Your Name, O Most High;

Dobro je slaviti Gospoda in prepevati tvojemu imenu, Najvišji,

Lehagid ba-boker chasdecha, ve-emunatecha ba-leilot.

to declare Your kindness in the morning and Your faithfulness in the nights,

oznanjati zjutraj tvojo dobroto in ponoči tvojo zvestobo,

Alei asor va-alei navel, alei higayon be-chinor.

on the ten-stringed lyre and the harp, with the melody of the lyre.

ob desetstrunski liri in harfi, ob zvoku citer.

Ki simachtani Adonai be-fo'olecha, be-ma'asei yadecha aranen.

For You have gladdened me, Lord, by Your deeds; at the works of Your hands I sing for joy.

Kajti razveselil si me, Gospod, s svojimi deli, nad delom tvojih rok vriskam.

How great are Your works, Lord; how very deep are Your thoughts!

Kako velika so tvoja dela, Gospod, kako globoke so tvoje misli!

Ish ba'ar lo yeda, u-chesil lo yavin et zot.

The senseless man does not know, nor does the fool understand this:

Nespameten človek tega ne spozna in bedak tega ne razume:

Bi-fro'ach resha'im kemo esev, va-yatsitsu kol po'alei aven, lehishamdam adei ad.

when the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, it is so that they be destroyed for ever.

Ve-ata marom le-olam Adonai.

But You, Lord, are exalted for ever.

Ti pa, Gospod, si vzvišen na veke.

For behold, Your enemies, Lord, behold, Your enemies shall perish; all evildoers shall be scattered.

Kajti glej, tvoji sovražniki, Gospod, glej, tvoji sovražniki bodo poginili, razkropljeni bodo vsi hudodelci.

Va-tarem ki-re'eim karni, baloti be-shemen ra'anan.

You have raised my horn like a wild ox; I am anointed with fresh oil.

Moj rog si dvignil kakor bivolov, maziljen sem s svežim oljem.

Va-tabet eini be-shurai, ba-kamim alai mere'im tishmana oznai.

My eye has looked upon my foes; my ears have heard of the wicked who rise against me.

Tsadik ka-tamar yifrach, ke-erez ba-Levanon yisge.

The righteous will flourish like the palm tree, grow tall like a cedar in Lebanon.

Pravični bo cvetel kakor palma, rasel bo kakor cedra na Libanonu.

Shetulim be-veit Adonai, be-chatsrot Eloheinu yafrichu.

Planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God.

Zasajeni v hiši Gospodovi bodo cveteli na dvorih našega Boga.

Od yenuvun be-seiva, deshenim ve-ra'ananim yihyu.

They will still bear fruit in old age; they will be full of sap and freshness,

Še v starosti bodo rodili sad, polni soka in zeleni bodo,

Lehagid ki yashar Adonai, tsuri ve-lo avlata bo.

to declare that the Lord is upright, my Rock, in whom there is no wrong.

Adonai malach ge'ut lavesh, lavesh Adonai oz hit'azar, af tikon tevel bal timot.

The Lord reigns, robed in majesty; the Lord is robed, girded with strength; the world stands firm, it cannot be shaken.

Nachon kis'acha me-az, me-olam ata.

Your throne stands firm from of old; You are from eternity.

Nas'u neharot Adonai, nas'u neharot kolam, yis'u neharot dochyam.

The rivers lift up, Lord, the rivers lift up their voice, the rivers lift up their roaring.

Reke dvigajo, Gospod, reke dvigajo svoj glas, reke dvigajo svoje bučanje.

Mi-kolot mayim rabim, adirim mishberei yam, adir ba-marom Adonai.

Mightier than the sound of many waters, than the mighty breakers of the sea, is the Lord on high.

Your testimonies are very sure; holiness befits Your house, Lord, for all time.

Tvoja pričevanja so zelo zanesljiva; tvoji hiši pristoji svetost, Gospod, za vse čase.

“The sixth day” is said quietly.»Šesti dan« izrečemo tiho.

Yom ha-shishi. Va-yechulu ha-shamayim ve-ha-arets ve-chol tseva'am.

The sixth day. The heavens and the earth and all their host were completed.

Va-yechal Elohim ba-yom ha-shevi'i melachto asher asa, va-yishbot ba-yom ha-shevi'i mi-kol melachto asher asa.

On the seventh day God completed the work He had made, and He rested on the seventh day from all the work He had made.

Va-yevarech Elohim et yom ha-shevi'i va-yekadesh oto, ki vo shavat mi-kol melachto asher bara Elohim la-asot.

God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, for on it He rested from all His work which God had created to make.
